The ability to share posts on Facebook has seen a boom recently with meme’s and top-ten lists doing the rounds, it’s the way your random missives can suddenly become a viral sensation. So here’s a little breakdown of the share options in Facebook
SHARE NOW (Audience)
This is the default action when you click the SHARE button in the mobile app. If the post has a link to a website (as most posts you share will) this will only share the link, not the post associated with it.
So if your friend or a company you follow posts this:
Clicking the SHARE button in your mobile app, or choosing the SHARE NOW option on the webpage will share only the link to lightyear.fm and not the text above the link, or any reference back to the original poster. This is the same with pictures, when you click SHARE or SHARE NOW you are only sharing the picture, any comments from the original poster will not get shared along with them.
The words in brackets after the SHARE NOW show who will get to see the post you’re about to share.
If the post is text only, like this one:
Then the post text will get shared, along with a link back to the original post
SHARE…
Clicking this option on the website gives you the ability to link back to the original post and include the original posters comments, even if the original post was a photo or a link to a website. You can add your own text above the full original post with links. This is best if you are re-posting a company page as it includes links back to the page.
You can also change the audience who will see your share of the post, and add location and emotion using the buttons along the bottom of the page.
On the mobile app, you need to click SHARE and then WRITE POST
SEND AS MESSAGE
This allows you to send the linked posts (same as SHARE NOW) in a private message to any of your users.
