The ICO have released details of a Telford company who have been fined for a breach of Data Protection.
Nobel Design and Build in Priorslee, Telford had failed to register with the Information Commissioner’s Office a criminal offence in the UK for any organisation that processes personally identifiable information.
They also failed to display appropriate information about the use of CCTV under the Data Protection Act despite the ICO writing to them three times to advise them of their responsibilities under the Act.

As with all personally identifiable information, in order to process it you need to establish the lawful bases, be transparent in its use and give sufficient information to individuals to allow them to make an educated decision on the processing of their information.[/bg_collapse]
Telford Magistrates convicted the company and fined them ÂŁ4500 for their breach of the Data Protection Act, and ordered them to pay costs of ÂŁ364 and a victim surcharge of ÂŁ170
Head of Enforcement at the ICO, Steve Eckersley
The offence took place before the new GDPR came into effect and so they were prosecuted under the Data Protection Act 1998
