We have been thinking about all the workers working from home, and how that might change the way some businesses operate for good.

With so many people working from home for at least the next few weeks, is it going to have an impact on your business going forward? Could this be a better working arrangement for you and your staff?

Staggered workforce

One option might be to have part of your workforce in the office, and the rest working from home, and swap them over daily or weekly

Smaller more efficient office

Moving to a remote workforce means that you don’t need as much office space for staff. Having a hot desk setup where employees share the office space naturally leads to a more tidy, organised efficient working space.

And there’s the obvious saving on square footage, as well as the increased resilience to any incidents that mean staff can’t get into the office, such as flooding, snow, fires or any incidents that block the access.

Staff moral

Many people report that working from home makes them more productive, with less distractions and no travel time, they can concentrate on the task in hand and work in a more efficient way.

Depending on their job, some workers find working from home fits in better with their personal situations, allowing them to work when they’re less distracted by other things. This might be by splitting their day to early morning and late night, working from home gives this flexibility to them.

Video conferencing

Using modern systems, it’s easy to schedule and manage remote working staff. Video conferencing means they can still included in the office meetings even if they’re at home, and internal messaging services mean they can still keep in touch with other staff either at home or in the office.

Shared working

With shared working and VPNs, your staff are always connected to your network and able to access the files on your company server just the same as if they’re in the office.
