Our History (a bit of geek)

tinsleyNET IT Services Consultants LTD was formed in 2014 but had been floating about for a long time before that. Back to 1989 when I first started writing computer code (For the geeks, it was BASIC on a Commodore Plus/4 – commodore basic 3 with 64kb RAM and a datasette cassette tape storage) and I coined the “U N I q U E > TinZ” moniker, not that I ever sold any programs. The first program I wrote, a 3-dimensional password key, worked brilliantly as a security device, but consumed the entire memory of the Plus/4.

I continued to use the “U N I q U E > Tinz” and later “U N I q U E > tinsley” while studying graphics and advertising. This is where my knowledge on computers began to expand as I helped maintain the Apple Macintosh and IBM/PC computers used in the art department.

In the following years I became more involved in networking and secured a job with a SAGE distributor providing IT services to clients. I became proficient with Windows and Linux servers and networking technology, and put this to use when I started working for the Local Educational Authority during the ‘IT in the classroom’ deployment, supplying high speed internet to schools both in urban and rural environments, and installing IT for use in both administrative and curriculum sectors.

This progressed through some other companies to evolve into the business as it is today. I have always had a focus on identifying they needs of the user and best applying technology to meet those needs. I am a firm believer that technology should work for us and not the other way around. I find it counter productive when a service requires users to work a specific way to meet the services needs, this just adds to a resilience by the users to use a service.

tinsleyNET do not offer off-the-shelf services. We acknowledge that you, as a user and as your business, might have processes already in place that work and are unique to your situation, Trying to shoehorn these bespoke processes into a predefined service just won’t work.

We will look at your needs and assess all the possibilities before designing a solution suited to your individual requirements.
