(How To) Get Windows 10
Users of Microsoft Windows 7 & 8 will start to notice a new icon in their system tray with the slanted Windows logo informing them of the opportunity to upgrade to Windows 10. No, it’s not a virus or malware, it’s a genuine offer from Microsoft.
Anyone currently using a genuine Windows 7 (with SP1) or 8.1 PC or on Windows Phone 8.1 will have the opportunity to upgrade, for free, to Windows 10 when it is released in July this year.
What is the catch?
None really, Microsoft want to move it’s customer base along onto it’s newest OS. Not all users will get the update notification, for example if you’re using an older version of Windows or the enterprise version, If you have Automatic Update turned off or if your device doesn’t meet the minimum system requirements.
I’m on Windows 7 Professional – do I get windows 10 Professional?
It looks like Windows 10 will come in three versions, unified across platforms. Windows 10 Home, Windows 10 Pro and Windows 10 Mobile. Your free upgrade will be to the equivalent to the version you are on at the moment.
What are the system requirements?
They are quite modest; 1GHz or faster CPU, 1GB RAM (for the 32-bit version) 2GB RAM (for the 64-bit version) 20GB Storage Space, DX9 Video Card and a display of at least 1024×600
What do I need to do?
for now, just register via the icon that’s appeared. Click on it and select GET WINDOWS 10
